Fly Fishing at Nikko’s Yunoko Lake, the Birthplace of Fly Fishing in Japan
Make your fly fishing debut in Nikko, where fly fishing was originally brought to Japan in the Meiji era.
May to September
1 to 2 persons
Fly fishing began in Japan in 1902 when British merchant Thomas Glover released brook trout into Yukawa and Lake Yunoko in Nikko for fun. The fish targeted during this experience are brook trout, which are found only in Yunoko and Yugawa lakes. Fly fishing is a method of fishing that uses an artificial bait (fly), which is made by wrapping bird feathers around fish hooks. In this session you will learn how to make flies and then fish with the hooks you have made.
