The guide will propose an itinerary according to your wishes and the season. Example itinerary: Two-day Tour: Mainly gentle mountain streams such as the rivers around Daisetsuzan Day 1: We will be fishing in the deep green mountain streams in the upper reaches of the Sorachi River. We will fish for large Ezo iwana (trout) with large dry flies. The distance covered over the two days is about 2 to 5 km. We will move to different spots each morning and afternoon. If camping, we will arrive at the auto campground near the lake in the evening. Large shelters and dining tents are already set up, but guests are responsible for setting up their own tents and bedding for overnight stays, which are available for rent. Dinner will be a charcoal barbecue of Ezo venison steaks caught in the winter in the Tokachi mountain forests. Fishing discussions will be held around the campfire. Day 2: We will fish upstream in tributaries and the upper reaches of rivers in the Tokachi region. While finding terrestrial and aquatic insects that trout feed on, we will give a lecture on fly selection, points where fish stay, how to cast flies, how to approach, and other more specific techniques. Guidance will be provided according to the skills of the guests, such as seasonal fly trends and matching fishing methods. Longer courses are also available, such as 3 to 4 days. In summer, we recommend fishing in the mountains where the water temperature is cooler.
From those with no experience at all to experts. We cater to anyone from 20 to about 75 years old.
Please bring familiar waders and boots, as well as any tackle (rod, reel, fly line) you may have. Rods are recommended to be 4-6, single-handled, 8.5-9ft. Fly lines will be weight-forward floating. Tackle, waders, and wader boots can be rented.
If you wish to stay overnight at the camp, camping equipment is available to rent. We do not provide the accommodation itself. Meals will be prepared by campers themselves at a barbecue using ingredients purchased in a communal kitchen.
We will meet you at a designated location, such as a station, and use the guide's vehicle for transportation. No fees will be charged for transportation.
