Representative of Trailhead, LLC, a company that creates a gateway to the outdoors in Takachiho

Bio

I am responsible for coordinating and acting as a guide on the National Long Trail, “The Kyushu Nature Trail," at the Kyushu Nature Trail Forum. As an explorer who seeks breathtaking landscapes and exquisite cuisine, I travel to many different places so that I can share the experiences I have with visitors to the area. To add even more of an allure to the experience of trekking, I launched "Kitchen Hike Kyushu," collaborating with local guides and facilities to provide gastronomic food experiences at mountain summits. In 2020, inspired by the scenic beauty of the area, I relocated to Takachiho and established Trailhead LLC., a company that promotes the "Sobo, Katamuki and Okue Biosphere Reserve." We create unique outdoor experiences utilizing the terraced rice fields during the non-cultivation season, such as the Takachiho Terraced Rice Field Camp. Additionally, through close collaboration with the Takachiho town hall, we established the Takachiho Adventure Tourism Association and are dedicated to evolving the entire region into a place where outdoor activities can be enjoyed to the fullest.

Message

I moved to Takachiho out of my deep love for the area, despite having no prior connections here. I now serve as a guide, accompanying visitors who come to experience the beauty of Takachiho. Rather than traditional sightseeing, I aspire to provide experiences that allow people to immerse themselves in the unique landscapes of Takachiho through outdoor activities. Centered around the terraced rice field camping experience, I provide many different ways to freely explore Takachiho through activities such as trekking, packrafting, and e-bike rides. I invite you to come and experience the Takachiho I love for yourself.

Guide Q&A

Q: What is your most memorable experience in nature?

The most memorable experience I have, was when I was walking through a landscape shaped by rice fields. It was a profound moment for me, witnessing the coexistence of Japan's natural beauty and the landscape shaped by the local community. It was a reminder of how nature and people have coexisted together and shaped each other, and I was deeply moved to have the opportunity to walk through this special place where the two worlds meet.

Q: What does nature represent to you?

Nature is a teacher of life. Being in nature allows me to reflect on my inner self, and contemplate the reasons and consequences of my actions.

Q: What has nature taught you?

Nature teaches us the value of freedom. Through walking, I have learned that we have the freedom to choose our own direction, where to pause, and what to nourish ourselves with.

Q: What do you hope that people will get out of experiences with you as a guide?

I want people to choose and walk along their own path. Each person has his or her own way of enjoying nature, even if I am guiding them through it. I hope that my guests will feel and taste things with their hearts and find value in the things that move them along their journey.
