Japan's best snow does not sit close together. Niseko, the best known of these regions, is in Hokkaido's southwest. Rishiri Island, one of Japan’s most coveted backcountry skiing destinations, lies off Hokkaido's northern tip. The island is formed by a single volcano, Rishiri-zan, which rises 1,721 meters from the sea and is hard to reach on commercial flights. Central Hokkaido sits inland. Hakuba Valley, made famous by the 1998 Winter Olympics, is located in the Japan Alps northwest of Tokyo on the island of Honshu.

Stitched together on commercial flights, a trip like this would lose days to connections and layovers. By private jet it becomes one circuit, with each region reached directly and left only when the skiing is done.

"Japan's skiing is extraordinary, but its geography has always worked against seeing the best of it in a single trip," said Max Mackee, Founder of Kammui. "This circuit means our guests can experience Japan’s most coveted ski regions in one journey."

Private aviation into Japan's ski country is accelerating. New Chitose Airport has started operating a dedicated business jet terminal from December 2023. Niseko's own tourism data shows a shift toward quality over volume. According to Niseko Town's official statistics, total visitor arrivals eased slightly to 1,545,848 in the 2025–26 fiscal year and foreign overnight guest numbers to 100,342, even as foreign guest-nights rose 15.7% to 235,213, meaning fewer international visitors are each staying substantially longer. More travelers are weighing Japan against resorts in the European Alps and North America, and finding a mix of powder, onsen culture, and hospitality that those resorts don't offer.
