Tokyo, Japan – 26 March 2025 – Kammui, a platform for luxury nature-based adventure and cultural travel in Japan, is thrilled to announce new National Park experiences created with local guides as part of a project for Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. To celebrate this milestone, Kammui has produced a series of short films showcasing these transformative journeys, featuring globally renowned creatives MADSAKI and Ian Spalter, who each respectively visited Myoko-Togakushi Renzan and Bandai-Asahi national parks.
A Creative Celebration of Japan’s National Parks
Kammui invited MADSAKI and Ian to explore and capture the transformative essence of Japan’s National Parks in two inspiring short films:

MADSAKI in Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park: the first film follows MADSAKI, a contemporary artist represented by Takashi Murakami’s Kaikai Kiki Agency, on a journey through the sacred mountains of Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park. The film highlights the park’s iconic shrines and landscapes and the importance of nature to the urban-based contemporary artist.

Ian Spalter in Bandai-Asahi National Park: the second film features renowned Silicon Valley product designer Ian Spalter, featured in Netflix's docuseries Abstract: The Art of Design, immersing himself in Bandai-Asahi National Park, exploring its volcanic terrains, inspirational bonsai culture, and breathtaking vistas. The film highlights how Japan’s natural beauty can inspire creativity and reflection in the digital age.

The Bandai-Asahi adventure has also drawn the attention of New York-based contemporary artist Tom Sachs, who experienced this unique excursion firsthand. His fully-guided journey included visiting a third-generation bonsai workshop, hiking to some of the park’s most stunning vistas, and enjoying a special night of glamping inside the park, with a private chef cooking dinner featuring the region’s best local produce. Tom commented:
“My experience with [my local guide] Kei was life altering. I can't even explain it. In two hours I was transported from urban life into deep nature. The trip was… beautiful and exciting. Challenging and regenerative.”

All of these signature experiences are an essential part of Kammui’s Bandai-Asahi itinerary, and exemplify the seamless blend of nature, inspiration, and culture that defines all Kammui Adventures.
Innovative National Park Experiences for Global Travelers
Kammui (in partnership with GOTOKU LLC) were invited as experts on a project for Japan’s Ministry of the Environment to help develop unique and immersive experiences that blend the country’s rich cultural heritage with its unparalleled natural landscapes. This project aims to captivate adventurous international travelers by creating new opportunities to explore areas of Japan away from the typical travel itinerary, a counter to popular destinations increasingly challenged by overtourism.
These immersive new national park adventures seek to connect travelers with Japan’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural heritage, while supporting local communities and regional development, providing unparalleled opportunities for meaningful engagement with Japan’s natural, historical, and cultural wonders.
Highlights include:
Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park: The mystical Togakushi Kodo pilgrimage trail, sacred shrines, and exceptional soba making culture in a historic village lost in time.
See the complete itinerary here.
Bandai-Asahi National Park: Striking volcanic terrains, inspirational bonsai culture, and a one-of-its-kind luxurious glamping retreat with a private chef.
